Helping Nonprofits Connect With the Community

BVU provides relevant and high impact services that strengthen the governance and leadership capacity of our region's nonprofit sector. BVU’s nonprofit services include volunteer referral (board candidates, volunteer consultants, direct service volunteers), consulting and educational seminars.

BVU nonprofit membership benefits

  • Reduced fees at BVU governance and management seminars for board and staff
  • Customized board training presentation (30 minute - 1 hour) at a board meeting
  • Access to consulting, management assistance, and coaching services
  • Referral of volunteer consultants for assistance with management projects
  • Invitations to the chief executive to attend periodic luncheon discussion forums with chief executives of other BVU nonprofits
  • Linkage of your organization to BVU's website

BVU provides the following regardless of membership

  • Assessment meeting to determine the BVU services that can be helpful to the organization
  • Access to board candidates who are qualified and screened per interest of nonprofit organization
  • Access to teams of volunteers from businesses and individuals seeking volunteer opportunities

Costs and Options

Nonprofit Organizations Served by BVU

Business Volunteers Unlimited refers volunteers for the following types of agencies:

  1. All 501(c)(3) agencies that provide service(s) beneficial to the public interest.
  2. Municipal, county, state, and/or federal agencies serving the public.
  3. Public or private (nonprofit) schools.
  4. Certain 501(c)(6) agencies (i.e., Chambers of Commerce) and certain 501(c)(7) agencies (i.e., AA).
Requirements of Participating Agencies
  1. The agency will meet the criteria listed above and have proof of this status on file at BVU.
  2. The agency operates out of a non-residential office and has at least one full-time paid staff member.
  3. The agency will comply with all federal policies and regulations regarding non-discrimination and accessibility, as well as provide a drug-free work place and maintain a safe working environment for all volunteers.
